New Zealand Energy Infrastructure Map
Published annually, the New Zealand Energy Infrastructure Map provides a detailed view of New Zealand’s energy infrastructure and depicts key components of the country’s electricity generation assets, transmission and distribution networks, and gas production and transmission infrastructure.
The colourful map provides a clear, insightful picture of the sector. Data shown has been proofed and provided by the Energy News research team to ensure it is up to date and accurate.
The map is a large 1.2m x 0.83m poster and uses icons and colour coding to portray generation and infrastructure assets by fuel type, operating status and to distinguish transmission lines based on capacity. It includes the following information:
Electricity Generation Assets:
- Geographic location of every operating generation asset.
- Consented, proposed and under-construction generation assets.
- Asset fuel type and ownership.
- Asset capacity and average annual output (where available).
- Date established.
Electricity Transmission & Distribution
- Lines company network distribution boundaries.
- Existing and planned transmission lines coloured by voltage. Shown down to 50 kV.
Gas Production and Transmission Infrastructure
- Transmission system.
- Geographic locations of major oil and gas production infrastructure.
Data
- National annual net electricity generation by fuel type for the past five years.
- Generation Roadmap listing consented, under construction and on hold generation assets.
- Retailer electricity customer numbers by ICP and market share at year end for previous five years.
- Annual MW installed capacity for each fuel type for the past five years.
Other Information
- Location of major end users.
